1. Adjust the MX records<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
By default you use the mx-records of Combell (see image):<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- mx.mailprotect.be with a priority of 10<\/li>
- mx.backup.mailprotect.be with a priority of 50<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
These are the settings you need to use when your mail traffic goes through Combell. These settings can only become active after you have updated the name servers (see below)!

<\/p>\n\n\n \t\t\r\n \t\t\tAre you e-mailing via an external provider? Ask about their DNS settings!<\/div>\r\n \t\t\t\r\n \t\t\t\t\r\n \t\t\t\t\tIf you use an external provider such as Microsoft Office 365, Gmail or your own mail server for e-mail traffic, request the DNS settings from that provider in order to make sure your e -mail works correctly after the transfer.<\/p>\n
As soon as you have those DNS settings (i.e. the modified mx record), you can easily adjust them in the Combell control panel via My products> DNS & Forwarding management. They only become active after updating the name servers (see below).<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n \t\t\t<\/div>\r\n \t\t<\/div>\r\n \t\t\n\n\n \t\t
\r\n \t\t\tChanging mailbox providers?<\/span> \t\t\t \t\t\t\t\r\n \t\t\t\t\t\n

- Recreate the same mailboxes with your new provider and set the DNS settings as described above.<\/li>\n
- Do you also want to see your old e-mails in your new mailbox? Then make an export from your old mailbox and import it into the new one.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n \t\t\t\t<\/p>\r\n \t\t\t \t\t\t\r\n \t\t<\/div>\r\n \t\t\n\n\n\n
2. Update your nameservers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
In order to enable the changes to the DNS settings, you must also update the nameservers. This completes the transfer of your domain name.<\/p>\n\n\n \t\t
\r\n \t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t\r\n \t\t\t\t\tTip<\/strong>: Only start this step if your website is already set up correctly<\/a>! \t\t\t\t<\/p>\r\n \t\t\t \t\t\t\r\n \t\t<\/div>\r\n \t\t\n\n\n\n
Have you switched to Combell? Follow these steps in the <\/strong>control panel<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Go to My products > Domain names > Your domain name> Name servers<\/li>
- Choose “Combell name servers” and confirm (see image).<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n \t\t\r\n \t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t
\r\n \t\t\t\t\tAttention<\/strong>! It can take up to 24 hours for this adjustment to be fully implemented. Afterwards your domain name and e-mail will be fully functional with the new provider. \t\t\t\t<\/p>\r\n \t\t\t \t\t\t\r\n \t\t<\/div>\r\n \t\t\n\n\n\n
